Never in a million years did I think I'd ever finish this song. The earliest draft of "Ode To Hope" is over 10 years old. It was my first attempt at finishing an entire song in GarageBand -- as well as try to sound like a one-man band in the process. Several drafts later, while I was living in Chiang Mai, Lindsay Stevenson cut a guitar solo to be added among endless columns of stems, right after the long, silly, and musically-undisciplined bridge. (Here's your long bridge, Geoff Cline) It's a silly ride inspired by the 20s-influenced songsters of the Bubblegum Golden Age: Monkees, McCartney, Nilsson... Jellyfish.
This recording was mixed using with my very own "Alchemy Pop" plugin: intended to dramatically inhibit your serotonin reuptake, treating you with 4 and a half minutes of Sonic Acupuncture. If you decide to buy this for any amount of money, you're buying a lot of love, labor and showing some serious respect for Hope Gatto. (Also you'd be helping me maintain equipment and pay bills!) Thanks for Listening! I Love You!
